Ohakune before ski season
I have been to Ohakune a couple of times before during the ski season as the town is known for. So it’s always been busy and smokey from all the chimneys and hot tubs.
This trip to Ohakune was completely spontaneous. George and I took a holiday just before Easter to avoid the crowd. And we’re supposed to be somewhere else. A mishap happened on the first night of our holiday that made us pivot to Ohakune to spend the rest of our holiday. It turned out to be the best decision!
I never knew Ohakune was so stunning in autumn. The town was quiet but not depressed. It was bursting with colours everywhere, and places were gearing up for the upcoming ski season after two years of closing down due to the pandemic.
My photos don’t do this town any justice. Though they still make me reminisce about the beautiful autumn in Ohakune.
